If dubstep were butter, we’d have plenty to send over to Norway this holiday season. While that joke may have been pretty lame, you have to admit that the world as a whole is churning a huge barrel full of thick heavy dubstep beats lately. With that being said, there are some great tracks out there, and twice as many terrible ones.
Well, this track is definitely one of the better ones we’ve found. Dubstep producer Dabin, from Kannibalen Records released this just a few days…
Australian siblings Jaymes and Tegan make up the electro-pop duo known as Voltaire Twins. To wind up what has been a big year for the band, the title track from their latest EP, ‘Romulus’, has been remixed by talented producer Moullinex. ‘Take My Gun’ was created out of frustration with foreign Visa’s, embassies, promoters and provides Russian producer DJ Antention with his debut on The Music Ninja. With a drop that just engulfs you in synths, the track weaves into pretty interesting timings which sounds… well… hefty!

Oxford indie-poppers Alphabet Backwards are five people who “champion the noble art of pop music, dancing all the way”. Judging by ‘Taller’, they’re doing a pretty good job of it. A sharp and infectious song about that “what if?” moment you see an ex, ‘Taller’ boasts catchy lyrics and a fantastic guitar line that will worm its way into your head for days on end. A must-have, ‘Taller’ features on the ‘British Explorer’ EP, and is available now.

Throw on your dancing shoes and boogie down tonight to the funky sounds of Melbourne based indie pop rockers Strange Talk. Their new single “Sexual Lifestyle” brings back memories of the best indie dance acts of the 2000′s such as The Rapture and Miami Horror while still maintaining originality. This track is hot and with remixes by the likes of Bart B More, Those Usual Suspects and RESET! it is sure to get some airplay at discotheques worldwide.
Youth Lagoon (Trevor Powers to his friends) recorded this cover of the late John Denver’s ‘Goodbye Again’ for Sirius XM, and it’s rather unusual piece from Powers. Featuring a sparse piano arrangement and Powers’ vulnerable vocals, ‘Goodbye Again’ is rather different to his lo-fi electronic bedroom jams. It’s an incredibly intense experience listening to this cover version, and will gain Youth Lagoon many new fans.

Victoria Hesketh, AKA the supremely talented Little Boots, has been rather quiet since the release of her massive debut ‘Hands’ all the way back in 2009. Now she’s back, with ‘Shake’. A six-minute house-influenced belter, this track combines achingly contemporary dance instrumentals with Hesketh’s classic pop vocals. A sure-fire hit that’ll set the dancefloor alight.
